My Great Uncles

Three of my grandfather’s brothers joined the AIF (Australian Imperial Force) and fought at Gallipoli after helping ‘liberate’ Palestine from the Ottomans.

They may be found in this photo of Australian cameliers taken in Rafa, now in blockaded Gaza. The photographer Frank Hurley was the official cinematographer on Ernest Shackleton’s Antarctic expedition (1914-17).
