Nat Geo 3.0: ‘Challenger Disaster’ Premiere Ratings

My highlight for this week’s excellent Realscreen was CEO Courteney Monroe’s presentation of her team’s strategy for Nat Geo 3.0.
  • She raised big questions that I’ll cover soon.

Last week, we ‘Case Studied’ Nat Geo’s Challenger Disaster: The Lost Tapes.

The Challenger special deserves close analysis as a model for future Nat Geo global commissions.

It also marks a welcome return of the historical archive to the top of the list of programs that:

  • Capture marketable audiences,
  • Are cost-effective,
  • Cross borders,
  • And add value to the channel’s brand.

Today’s post is a quick snapshot of Monday’s U.S. Cable ratings when the Challenger film premiered.

  • The selection of data from TV-Recaps-Reviews is edited here to eliminate Sports / Talk, etc.
  • Not all the programs are Unscripted.
  • The snapshot captures the relative audience of Nat Geo, Scripps, Discovery, which is making a welcome comeback, A+E Networks, and other channels that air Unscripted programs.
